Hello! So my partner and I are looking at buying a house together. He's currently working in healthcare earning around £2000 a month but I'm still a student about to go into the third year of my 5 year degree.

He currently lives with his parents and I live in a rented flat about an hours drive away. In my 4th year I will be moving to the same town as him (my uni course is a nightmare) but will be staying there for the forseeable so it would make sense to move in together and we would really love to.

Our first thoughts were to rent together but it seems such a waste of money, so we're wanting to buy but we're just trying to decide if it's an achievable goal.

I was just looking for some advice as to whether this sounds like a good idea to the more financially minded of you.

We want to spend at least 12 months saving via a lifetime/ help to buy ISA but my main concern is that as I'm a student will I be more of a hindrance than a help and would I be able to have my name on a mortgage if it was my partner that is working?

We're going to see financial advisors etc. in a few weeks but I just don't want to get my hopes up so I thought I'd ask here!

I hope that makes sense. Thanks so much in advance!!!
