I recently had a 5-hour layover in London, so I sat down to have a beer and do some work when I remembered that I had a Priority Pass, which is a card allowing you to access a number of airport lounges for EUR 20 a pop. I paid my 20 and have close to 5 hours of free drinks and food in great comfort. There were also outlets for European plugs so I avoided having to purchase an adapter (I'd forgotten mine) to get my work done. Worth the annual fee and admission price if you end up in similar situations regularly.
