Hi everyone, i would love some advice from you guys, as I’m kind of struggling at the moment.
Me (30f) And hub (38m) started our own business in the restaurant industry, last year and I took the first year off my work to help out. (In hindsight This was a massive mistake).
While it’s going okay, my DHs salary is very much month to month, and as a result I went back to work ft from the start of this year. I’m working 2 Jobs, as well as at the restaurant too, and I think I’m making a fairly good wage.
The original plan was that my salary would cover the household expenses (mortgage, food, bills, kids stuff etc) so that whatever he earned at the restaurant could be savings.
The problem is, my hub is taking all my salary and putting it back into the restaurant, and Today I hit the max on my overdrafts (basically from direct debits being withdrawn, and me not putting enough back in.) when my salary comes in, he will pay stuff waiting to be paid to suppliers and utilities, leaving us scramble for the home stuff that my salary was supposed to cover.
I personally think that we really need to strictly separate the home and business, as at the moment I feel completely out of control.
My question is - is this normal for self employed people? Am I being selfish about this?
Thank you so much and I appreciate your input
