Hello Everyone,
This month, I successfully graduated with a Master's Degree. I am 25 years old. I had been applying to jobs that pay around $70/80k a year. My degree got me interviews, but my lack of experience ultimately eliminated me as a candidate. In the meantime, I have just accepted a $40k a year job, which is entry level in my field and will provide me with the experience necessary to re-apply for those higher paying positions down the line.
I have about $60k combined in student loan debt (all federal loans with varying interest rates) which I have to start paying in 6 months. I also have 1500 in credit card debt. I do not pay rent, but may need to start within the next few months ($500 a month). I also have no car note, but would not be opposed to a cheap lease as I am tired of the maintenance costs on my 15 year old car.
I have about $7,000 in education award money from community/gov service. I can use this money to help pay back my loans. I do not have much in the way of savings, as I have been in school my whole life.
I would love some advice on budgeting, student loan repayment, and on my next car options. Thanks for your help!
