I’m looking at building a 4 metre by 8 metre patio in our garden. Some places I have researched say to compact base layer then to compact sand on top, some say not to compact sand.My approach is going to be: Pull up weeds/ other crap, dig half foot down and then lay 10 inches of base material, compact and leave for a 24hrs then lay sand and lightly compact with boards.
