I met the true Queen of Frugal today. She is a little granny who is 101 years old. She buys all her clothing at Goodwill. She is quite thin and frail so she easily gets cold. She made leg warmers from cut off sweater sleeves. Her knees still get cold so she cut pieces of fleece jacket and sewed elastic to them to wrap around her knees. Her "skirt" was an old heavy coat that she cut the arms from, sewed the arm holes shut and turned it into a wrap around skirt that secures shut with safety pins. She wears a thick headband to keep her ears warm made from a cut sweatshirt sleeve. Her scarf was yet another sleeve cut from an old shirt. Underneath all of this was the most raggedy pair of thermals. Every item of her clothing was well worn, and she had made several repairs over the years with her needle and yellow thread. She was a little eccentric and I loved her style of reduce, reuse, recycle!
