This is a new one for me. In order to curb rambling here's the facts: I just started (late May) a new job and it was not made apparent at the start that I would be working a minimum of 50 hours per week with five scheduled 10 hour shifts per week which, in my experience thus far, more often than not runs about an hour or two later than scheduled. So far in the last work weeks (Sunday to Saturday) it's been 53.5 the first week and I've already worked almost 24 hours in 2 days with 3 more to go which I see easily tipping past 60hrs in total. Keep in mind this doesn't include mandatory 1.5hr conference calls each week and a 1.5 hour meeting before one of my next week shifts (both uncompensated).

Also, my working hours vary from 6am to 12pm start times again at a scheduled length of 10 hours per shift. I live about 40 minutes away in zero traffic (up to 2 hours with moderate to heavy traffic) and have already worked 5 shifts with less than 11 hours in between ending one shift and beginning another.

More details about the position/industry (without giving too much away): I am in management in the restaurant industry at a place where we are open for business 24/7 but not fast food or a franchised chain in a very desirable district of the major city in the northwest (think grunge music and rain hint hint). My compensation is slightly north of 45k annually, pto at slightly less than 10% per PAID hour (40 per week), and average health care at an average cost for the industry/area.

What are my options? I am meeting with a superior soon for a personal meeting and this should be my best time to bring it up without getting too far down the road. What makes it slightly difficult is I have only a base level idea of who this guy is, no clue what my peers are being compensated (besides pto and healthcare), and of course I'm fairly new. On the positive side I have been in the industry for over a decade, still a few years shy of 30, an amazing resume and performance history, and have already been painted as the golden child of the workplace even to the point of recognition by my staff, peers, superiors and even ownership.

I feel at the very least I should ask for 12 hours in between shifts but all of this non paid overtime is hard to swallow and this isn't a strictly desk job by any stretch with well over 80% being on my feet, hustling, speaking with guests and assisting staff with operations, with over 2-3 hours of admin/office work which must be completed before leaving whether or not I am able to during scheduled hours due to business intensity or coverage.

Again this is my first salaried position and no matter what I've said so far I do enjoy the job and this is the highest level I've achieved in the industry. I just couldn't imagine this was it and there was nothing I could try to do to improve the situation to fit the actuality of the position and what it entails. Thank you again for your time and I apologize if this is a ridiculous question but I'm hoping someone could give me some advice.
