I’ve been a teacher for 9 years, have vested with our SERS and currently have 43k in a 403b that I contributed to for 7 years. I am leaving to take a job in the private sector, where my new employer offers a 401k with 6% match.
I contributed $200 per pay for my first 7 years, but stopped two years ago when I started a family. Because I am getting a 12k bump in salary with the new position, I plan to contribute 6% to my new 401k (~175 per pay, for 26 pays)starting from the first paycheck.
What are my options with my 403b? I’m happy with my money management (Kades-Margolis) and my fees are low. Should I leave the money in the 403b? Can I roll it over to my 401k or to an IRA?
