Hi guys! My bedroom is next to a busy road and I've been getting too much road noise lately. My windows are single pane and it's doing a horrible job blocking noise. I was researching about how to reduce noise without replacing windows. I found out the best way will be to add another layer of plexiglass or laminated glass in front of my existing window and keep 3-5 inch airgap between the old glass and new glass. I think it's easily doable using plexiglass. I can just install L shape mounting trim in my window and use adhesive magnetic strip to place plexiglass.Basically something like this: https://ift.tt/2l0zwzr Even though it's a simple idea, I would like to install laminated glass instead of plexiglass as laminated glass will give me better performance. However I can't follow above simple installation steps with laminated glass as laminated glass is heavy (correct me if I'm wrong). Magnetic strip won't have strong holding force to hold laminated glass.I am not an expert in these kind of work. Can someone advice me about what kind of installation method I can use ? I want to have some flexibility to remove the glass whenever needed. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2Hxh368
