So I have an "activity room" which is 2.15m / 7ft wide and I want to build a floating computer desk against the wall and it would be the full width of the wall of course, and about 75cm / 2.4ft deep. I found a nice hardwood (jarrah I think) that I would cut to size and place it there. The location of the table would be similar to this picture here. The wall is an inner brick wall, so it is just one brick that is kind of hollow like this one. My questions are as follows:Can I use an L bracket like this one or that one for the support at the back and on the sides? one of the people working in the hardware store told my dad that because it is a hollow single brick, any pressure on the top part of the bracket would just break the brick and it would come out completely. If i do not use the L bracket, my other option is to go for this style, with the 3 pieces of wood. But my question is whether it will be enough support for heavy wood. There are some power outlets right in the middle of the wall at the very bottom, and I know for a fact that there is a straight line of cable running in the middle of the wall just above the power outlets so that means no drilling there. BUT there are couple of data access ports to the sides of the power outlets and I have no idea whether they have their own conduit perpendicular to them or they go in the same conduit of the power cables. So, is there any way to check before I drill?Thank you very much for your help. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2MtXuzE
