A little over a year ago I set up a permanent life insurance plan with Northwester Mutual. I've been uncomfortable with that choice as an investment and would like to move out of it. Does anyone have any recommendations for how to lose the least amount of money in canceling or stopping contributions to that policy?

Am I correct in wanting to move out of the permanent life insurance plan?

As a follow up, what would be a good alternative investment to that? I currently have both a simple and roth IRA that I could up contributions to.

- edit - It is a whole life insurance plan
