I'm looking to marry my fiance however she doesnt care about funding her retirement. I was told retirement funds accumulated during marriage cannot be protected with a prenup.
I fully fund my 401k and roth IRA, as well as another account. I worry that i will be responsible while she continues not caring about retirement. If we ever decide to split i fear she would reap the benefits of my responsible choices while i would get shafted.
Is there anything i can do to protect myself financially before getting married?
Edit: we have been together for a little over 8 years. Its not that we arent compatible, i just recently witnessed someone get screwed in the same situation which is making me worry.
