Hello all. I have a project I’m thinking of tackling because I want to make my patio more enjoyable In the summer. What I have is a screened in patio that is aluminum framed with screens for the walls, and a corrugated fiber glass roof. The steps I’m planning on taking is replace the switch exterior light as the fixture has seen better days, in doing so I will add a waterproof j box on behind it. From the j box I’ll use one of the threaded “knock outs” for a fitting to some liquidtite conduit and go straight up, bend 90° to the left, and 90° again to run on the support to a weatherproof fan box. Here are my concerns. • will the structure support say a 52” fan ok? •any reason I cannot tie the new fan into the existing light in the new j box (put the fans load/neutral/ ground to same wire nut as the lights)? •would the new j box, liquid tite conduit, fan box, and fittings be ok with code? •what would be a good way of hiding the conduit where it wouldn’t look trashy, I’m leaning towards sourcing some two piece aluminum commercial trim as in this link (I’ll go to some local shops and try to buy some 6’ scrap not this bulk amount).https://ift.tt/2JMRjIt finally here is a picture of the space. I would prefer to mount it on the first or second perpendicular to building support closest to the light but wouldn’t be adverse to putting a parallel support connecting the two other supports.https://ift.tt/2LJFZKc you all for the help in advanced, I have the general idea of what I want down but I have a few small details. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2yaPwIC
