Hi everyone,
I'm new to this thread. So glad to have found it. My husband and I are working really hard to simplify our life together. It's been great so far. However, we tend to get weird reactions to decisions we make from our family. In a nutshell, we currently live abroad and will be moving back to the States next week. We need a car and have a very specific budget, plan to buy used, and just want something super practical with good gas mileage. I shared this info with my parents and they seemed kind of...judgmental? My dad then proceeded to tell me that there's all these great new Hyundai models that would be good for us. I told my dad thanks, but we can't afford something new and he seemed kind of mad? It was weird. He's done this before. Another example...since we are moving back we are looking for a rental. We are not financially in the place to buy a house nor want to at this point. My dad knows this, yet still went into a real estate office and proceeded to get us listings for condos. I love my parents, but they do stuff like this all the time and I have to shoot them down each time.
I guess I'm wondering if any of you have similar experiences? Thanks for sharing.
