Hi DIY! Greetings from my little bit of the UK - I've got a little project on the go that requires a mirror with a clear glass area - My effort so far Anyway, following some research, I opted to use the "mirror in a can" from Rust-Oleum - despite very careful prep work, and careful following of the directions, i'm not super pleased with the result at all - some areas are "bloomed" and the entire thing has a fine crackle effect (as noted in some of the user reviews of the product) also the area I masked off failed to give a decently crisp edge when I removed the tape (scoring around the perimeter helped, but was far from perfect). So my question is either "how can I create a good quality mirror with a clear area (without resorting to poisonous chemistry ideally)? OR where can I get a "made to order" mirror with the clear section I require? And yes, a 22" TV is being mounted in the cut-out area. Original concept called for 2-way mirror film for the entire area of glass, but early testing showed that the room was far too bright for the TV to be sensibly visible.Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi /r/DIY, you're my only hope. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2HyccSw
