Living at home with my parents and approaching 30. I’m not poor by choice and have little experience with it. I’m looking into simple living from a practical viewpoint so I can live alone. Lately I’ve been researching what things I can do without (within reason and nothing that would affect my health). I won’t forego bathing or eating or my regular exercise routine.

There are the obvious things like cut your own hair, eat out rarely or never, no snacks, drink water, never watch movies in theaters, etc.

What I’m really here to learn about is the less obvious non-essentials that I would never think of. Some of the things that surprised the naive me is that you CAN live without a mattress and shaving cream. And if you plan your meals right, you can live off of 2 normal meals a day and 1 light meal (or snack). If you don’t sweat a lot, eat well and have normal or dry hair, you can wash your hair every other night. Stuff like that.

Any resources or links appreciated
