I need to scrape back and reseal the plaster around my shower to repaint (this is a rental so expanding the splash back isn't an option). I've been told 4:1 PVA, 5:1 PVA, or more expensive store bought sealers will do the job and allow repainting but this area appears to be a somewhat controversial.
