I am currently weighing up my options to have cash ready to buy in the next stock market crash.
While I am looking to leave most of my stock portfolio invested in what I regard as quality companies, regardless of market conditions, I also wish to stockpile some cash so I have the option to buy other stocks at a low ebb in the market, whenever that may be. The two options I am considering are as follows: 1. Hold cash in my stockbroker account 2. Buy additional stock which I feel should be a solid performer but to have a stop loss order set up which I gradually increase in value so I can make some profit on my money while still having quick access to funds to buy at the dip
I generally dislike stop orders as they can result in selling during a temporary correction and missing out in future gains, but feel they may have a role in the situation above. Interested to hear your thoughts!
