I just wanted to talk about something I saw in Best Buy yesterday. I was in line to pick up an online order, and in front of me was an elderly gentleman who wanted to buy a large amount of gift cards.
The customer service rep asked a few questions about his purchase, and then explained that there are a lot of scams out there that coerce people into buying large amounts of gift cards for various fake reasons, such as bail for a relative, the promise of more money later, and so on.
He seemed to go above and beyond in ensuring that this guy wasn't being suckered into a scheme of any sort. Turns out the guy just wanted them for various graduation/birthday gifts, but I thought it was very good that the Best Buy customer service reps are working hard to make sure people don't fall prey to this kind of scam.
