I am a university student, and i carry my laptop and a folder, laptop charger, a kindle, occasionally a notebook or novel or two, lunchbox, and water bottle every day to uni. It's only a 15 minute walk usually, but I am not exaggerating when I say I literally feel ill my back hurts so badly right now. I feel like I've been hit by a bus. I need something that will make me not wince in pain when I come home from school.

I am relatively small, and I currently use a Eurohike backpack which fits everything, but the bag itself is really heavy even when empty, the straps never stay tight (which means the weight never stays easily distributed) and tbh it just generally looks huge on me. Previous to that, I used a smallish £30 backpack which, whenever I filled it with anything heavy, came unzipped toppling all the contents onto the pavement.

I really like the look of the Fjallraven Kanken, but I am unsure whether to go for a classic or 13in laptop one. I plan to carry my 13 in laptop in it, but I've read mixed reviews which said the classic can hold a laptop, and others which said it won't be able to. I know the bigger one seems like a no-brainer, but I'd really love to use this as my everyday bag, including when I'm not carrying my laptop, when I think the larger one might make me look silly (again, i'm short with a small stature) and the backpack looking nice is also important to me. I know the classic does not come with padded shoulder straps, but if it will serve purpose, I am happy to pay extra for the attachable padded shoulder straps. Not to mention I live in a very rainy place, and the waterproof nature of the Kanken is really appealing to me.

I really just want something which isn't going to make my back hurt so much!

Edit: just wanted to say part of the reason the Kanken is so appealing to me is because I've read the bag itself is practically lightweight, and i really can't handle more added weight from the bag itself (the main issue of my current backpack)
