I have a 1964 Ranch style house which was added on to in the front. The addition is on a 6'7" wide by 14' slab, and this is right next to the original wooden subfloor. There is a very small gap between the slab and the subfloor. The slab is 1/4" to 1/2" lower than the wood. I am looking to install laminate flooring throughout the house as cheaply as possible, but I'm wondering about that gap. Should I put down some leveling compound and raise the concrete to the same level as the wood subfloor? Or could I just put down thicker underlayment on the slab? Should I stop the flooring at the edge and put a moulding in the gap? Ideally I'd like it to be a smooth transition with no tripping hazard. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2rocrtk
