I get paid hourly at my current job(small business where I see the actual owner frequently). I hadn't received a raise in about 2 years and a few months(I have worked there for almost 5 years), and because of extenuating circumstances I really needed a raise so I decided to open the negotiations myself(the owner had given me two raises previously without my asking). I think I messed up by telling him whatever he though was fair when he asked how much we wanted(my roommate was my coworker, we worked in a two-man team delivering furniture, and we both needed some extra money). We were each given $1.50 an hour raise, whereas I really wanted at lease $2. My roommate quit a couple days ago while my boss was out of town, and within 20 minutes I had someone else there working and was training him because I need another person to do my job. Should I ask for the extra $.50 now? Also, is there enough reason for an employer to give an additional raise this quickly?
