I am a healthcare professional. One of my colleagues had to go a funeral on Sunday because her relative died. No one was available to cover her shift. I am getting married in 3 weeks, so I said to myself a little extra money wouldn't hurt plus I am helping my department out.
I put in the extra day of work in my time sheet as overtime x 1.5. My boss edited it without telling me and put it in as OT x 1. I confronted my boss politetly about what she did and respectfully told her I do a lot for this department ( orientate students and new hires, participate in comittees, participate in projects, volunteer for extra work, etc.). I told her that it is unacceptable that she doesn't compensate me for my hard work. She got mad and stormed out of my office.
Later I checked my pay sheet again and saw that she changes half the day to OT x 1.5 and left the other half as OT x 1. I thought to myself "Wow! That's a small victory right there"... bu it was short lived. Later that day, she called me into her office to tell me that she cleared my schedule tmr morning to meet me with her assistant to talk about what happened. I have a huge lump in my troat. I feel so anxious I can't even sleep. I feel like I am walking naked towards the executioners axe.
