I am trying to think of scenarios where the Robotics ETF will lose money or fail to beat inflation + some small % over long term. Since it's a fact that robots will be very important in the future the only way this can happen is if this ETF choses the losing companies from the sector.

Economic downturns even worldwide should not matter so much if progress is continuous unless there is something like a nuclear war that happens.

You could argue that it's a winning bet also if you bet on global tech factor but still, tech companies are not upstarting now. their price discovery and value is already known so it could be that they return not much from now on for the next years. Thoughts?
