I have 70k sitting in my savings account. I know I should have started investing a long time ago. I opened up a schwab account and my goal is to just put it into SWPPX (mutual fund? index fund?) and let it grow. All I have to do is type in the amount of money and hit "confirm" but it scares me to death moving so much money around and I all of this investing stuff is so complex.
I actually put in an order for $100 without having funds in my schwab account. The schwab guy I chatted with said if I dont have the funds, they have the right to sell it or something. I just cancelled the order. Is this going to cost me money to cancel? I dont know why I put in that order. Im so nervous.
I put in an online transfer request for 5k and it should be in my brokerage account after a few days. After that I guess I'll just buy some SWPPX? Is that it?
