To put some context to my enquiry, I live in Ireland, where 90% of the year it’s freezing cold. Up until about 3 weeks ago, it felt as if the temperature refused lift above about 10 degrees (Celsius) for the last 7 months or so, (most of the winter was spent in the minuses or very close to 0). My home is a converted bungalow with Velux windows. As we approach summer (it was 22 degrees yesterday, which may seem low to some, but that’s absolutely boiling.) Anyway, we become inundated with insects in the summer here, plagued with wasps, moths, flies etc etc., the usual. Since a/c is rare in Irish homes because of the cold temperatures that we experience most of the year, opening all the windows in the summer is a must to circulate cool air, the problem with this is the insects. I’m aware that I’m blabbering on but I’m trying to source some ideas for a homemade insect screen that costs little to nothing. Insect screens sold by Velux for their windows sell for upwards of €110 per screen which is a joke to pay if they’ll be utilised for a few months in a year, and in my case I’d need 6 of them. Soooo, after that long-winded explanation that was more than likely unnecessary, has anyone got any suggestions? Thank you! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2L4Pnb4
