Roughly a month ago, I asked my fellow PF redditors how I should go about asking for a quite large raise to compensate for what I am currently doing.

A few (okay, most) of the comments suggested that I start looking for another job that would compensate me fairly as it was highly unlikely that I would get what I asked for.

I just wanted to let everyone know that there was an update to my story (I know it's not exciting for everyone, but I wanted to share anyway).

I did not end up looking for a new job...nor did I end up asking for a raise. My goal was to wait until I hit my two year mark next month to broach the subject.

Instead, my boss called me into his office this afternoon and said, very short and sweet, that he enjoys my working for him, I fit in well with his department, and he has been advised that he does not want to lose me (he agrees with that sentiment lol). And gave me a 30% raise retroactive to the first of the month. Not as much as I had initially planned on asking for, but a solid increase that I can most certainly live with and am excited about.

So! Not only did I not need to find a new job, I'm going to be getting fairly compensated for my skills and job description.

Now all I have to do is wait to see what my first month will be like (so I have rough numbers) and then redo my budget. I feel like such an adult now!!!

Thanks PF for all your help and wealth of information!!! I appreciate this sub a ton!
