The company i work for wont allow me to take a paid sick day. I have been here since December 2017, and have only used 16 hours of my 24 hours. Can they do this? They asked me to switch my "paid sick day" to "unpaid absense" (CA)

I believe because i gave them my 2 weeks notice last week, they are doing this in spite.

In the same meeting where i provided my letter of resignation, i also mentioned that i have a doctors appt the following week to get a second opinion in regards to suggested surgery. I of course will provide a doctors note to support my visit as well.

I went into the HR system and requested my "sick day" and they declined it and asked to take "unpaid day off".

I have only used 16 hours out of my allowed 24 hours and i have been with the company since 2017 of December, well over my 90 days.

Are they allowed to do this? What can i say in response? I'm not sure how to respond I feel like they trying to take away my rights.
