I'm finishing law school next month, and my dad wants to get me a briefcase as a traditional gift. He asked me to pick out one I like. My dad has some health issues, so I'd really like to get one that can remind me of him for decades to come.

There isn't a specified budget, but I'd obviously prefer to have him spend less where possible.

I'll primarily be using it to go to work. I want it to look fairly formal and professional, while also being functional. I have a 15" gaming laptop right now (https://www.amazon.com/Dell-i7577-5241BLK-PUS-Inspiron-Display-Gaming/dp/B0764HW117) that it needs to fit. I don't think I'll ever have a computer bigger than this, so it doesn't need to fit any more than that.

The other things I'll usually carry are a notepad, water bottle, and a folder with documents in it. I also generally have an external battery brick and noise canceling headphones. I'm going to spend most of my time in an office that isn't SUPER formal, but will be taking it to court a few times a month, so it needs to be suitable for that.

Here are the bags I've been looking at: https://www.satchel-page.com/products/counselor

Very nice looking, but I'm a little worried about how BifL it is with both a lining and zippers.

This one looks a bit more long term https://www.satchel-page.com/products/4-way-briefcase, but it's heavier, and doesn't look as comfortable to carry or easy to use.

Basadar also looks interesting, but their warranty is only 90 days, which makes me worry about longevity.

This looks nice, but isn't in stock at the moment, has a zipper, and seems like it might be too small for my needs.

Same issues as the other lined and zippered bags. I like the light weight though.

https://vermilyeapelle.com/products/bruciato-italian-veg-tanned-briefcase This one looks very nice, and the zippers actually look super sturdy, but I'd rather go cheaper than this.

Generally I feel like Saddleback stuff is both too heavy, and a bit over the top in terms of buckles and "rugged" styling. Other than that, I'm open to suggestions from other companies.
