I am 52 and I fully fund my 401k with pre tax contributions. I expect to work another 13 years and based on the bankrate calculator with a 6% return I should retire with just under 2 million for my retirement.

My wife is 5 years behind me but her retirement account projection is very similar.

My question is should I begin using my yearly raises to contribute to my 401k in a post tax scenario too minimize my tax risk in retirement? Or is it better to use those funds in separate index based fund outside of my 401k

How do I calculate this? I have never seen a calculator with this formula.

We do have an emergency fund already.

Thank you!
