Hope this post is appropriate for this subreddit...

I live in a hurricane zone. Hurricane season is roughly 7 months. The best way to prep for hurricanes is to have a weeks worth of drinkable water and food when hurricanes make landfall. In the past, I've purchased these when the time comes, but with the hysteria last year, I've decided I'll buy what I need regardless of a threat on the onset of hurricane season and get rid of (eat/drink) everything when hurricane season ends. So assuming I lose power and running water, what are some perishables that are at least semi-nutritious that I can stock up on to survive for a week (at most) on that should last approximately a year (at least as long as the hurricane season)?

I guess to justify this post here, I should explain that despite the illegality of it (the AG doesn't seem to give a shit, I've complained before), businesses gouge prices just before hurricanes where I live.

Also, before anyone asks, I live in a building that can easily withstand a Cat 5 hurricane, and I'm high enough to almost guarantee I will never flood. I've ridden out many hurricanes here while others have evacuated.
