They are 1460 smooth leather boots. I work in a pet store and get my feet wet often, but have never had this problem before and it's puzzling.

I've tried a white vinegar/water solution and drying them in the sun, which helped somewhat. I scrubbed the dead mildew off with a rubber eraser afterwards and would say it's about 25% better, but there still is visible mildew and I'm not sure which direction to take.

I heard soaking them for a bit in a bleach and water solution can work, but I'm worried about ruining the leather more. I don't have many days I can leave them in the sun as I live in a sketchy area, but I could try baking them or something at 100°.

I am also unsure of if I should use nubbin or the wonder basalm on the inside as well as the outside?

Let me know if there is somewhere else for me to put this if this sub is inappropriate. Thanks!
