Did anyone here decide they did not want an engagement ring or to have a wedding? After looking for my "dream" ring for awhile and not finding anything that fit what I wanted (non traditional style, lab grown stones, under $1000) I realized that I don't even think I even want one... it's almost programmed into your head from a young age that you will get a big diamond ring and have a fancy wedding and we are realizing we want no part in that. We are actually panning to elope while on a camping trip. I'll be curious to see the reactions of my colleagues when we get back. I work in a legal department and some of them have rings that cost more than my car did new! To be clear we do both want simple bands.
