My husband will likely need a kidney transplant in the next 10-15 years. Other than beefing up the emergency fund in case he is out of work for awhile, anything else we should do to prepare?

He has a genetic condition and the doc recently said he will almost certainly need a transplant in the future. We make about 150k combined, currently 15k in emergency fund and I want to double that. We both also max out Roth IRAs and put an additional 500 a month in my 401k (he doesn’t have access to one). Our only debt is our mortgage - 2200 a month. I work for a government agency and have fantastic health insurance, and that situation isn’t likely to change. Edit to add: no kids and we won’t be having any.
