TL;DR (or no-read):- Side-By-Side (err...Up and down) Comparison shots 1 2 3- Full album with similar commentary below.Hey r/DIY, longtime reader, first time contributor. My wife and I had been contemplating on how to improve our kitchen, which went as far as considering a full-on gut job and layout change. But we ultimately decided that everything was still in great shape and it'd be wasteful to destroy it, at least right now. So I decided I would use this opportunity to do a true DIY project on our beloved first home, something I've yet to do completely by myself since we moved in 2 years ago.I had read so many good things about the Rustoleum cabinet transformations kit and decided to try it out so I would not have to deal with sanding and priming. I think each method has its pros and cons and should suit your overall goal. We would like to gut the entire kitchen maybe in 5-10 years (or who knows maybe we'll move by then), thus all we wanted was a high-quality "fix", not a permanent solution.Like many, I may have good before/after comparisons, but completely failed taking photos in between because I got so caught up in working. Hopefully my descriptions will help anyone who needs it.Total work time was a little over 3 weeks when you consider actual working hours (and not dry time). I was determined not to rush this project, so I did it in sections. That way we could still live seemingly normal everyday lives and also not be without a functioning kitchen for too long. I had mostly free weekends and did whatever I could after my 9-5 on weekdays.Total cost was about $220 or so with the two kits, and supplemental supplies.Edit: updated possible broken link and added an image discussing hole-filling for the new hardware and another photo showing the brush strokes. Added costs too. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2vlXXza
