We wanted to share our experience and provide a bit of background laying out the process we (professional married couple in our 30's) used to embrace simple living, pare down in preparation for becoming digital nomads, and undertake long term travel.
We sold 95% of our belongings (r/minimalists), bought two Osprey 36L Manta AG's (r/onebag, r/backpacking, r/HerOneBag), and set off to become digital nomads (r/digitalnomad, r/longtermtravel), and embrace 'independence' (location, financial, employment, etc.), (r/leanfire).
In our case we undertook the process to be able to travel full time but the philosophy may be relevant to those who are struggling with reducing their personal belongings.
