https://ift.tt/2qBfNJE (actually, I built two)I had been really excited for a couple months about playing Kung-Fu Zoo, after happening upon a demo video for it:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wr1LjuKyOakWhen it actually got published, it was made with a plastic insert/ board with graphic design on it that looks really nice, but I was already looking forward to the feel of the wooden board from the demo. So it gave me a reason to make my own!I've done a good bit of woodworking hobby projects over the years, but making this board allowed me to try a lot of things for the first time. It was my first time doing woodburning, using a veneer, using a hole-saw, getting precise miter cuts, using dowel rods, and using danish oil.I might end up making a third version... I'd really like to be more successful with the veneer, if anyone has tips on how to flatten the veneer before applying (or whether I should do something else), let me know. I also have a couple other ideas for improvements, like a slight rounding of the inside corners so that dice in the corners aren't quite as safe as they are now, and possibly something to deflect dice outward when they fall down the holes (it can be a pain to feel around for them if they bounce underneath).Any tips, hints or ideas for improvements are welcome! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2qxsV1I
