With a 15 minute phone call I was able to lower my monthly bill by $20 and increase the speed! I have Charter Spectrum internet, which is by far the best in the area. I had originally signed up with a promotional rate of $44.99/month. After a year the rate was increased to $69.99/month. I called customer support and asked a few questions about cancelling and told them I was thinking about switching to a different internet provider ( I wasn't). The support agent first offered to increase my speed from 60 mbps to 100 mbps for no charge. I declined and told them I was looking to cancel because the other internet provider is cheaper. She then offered the speed increase and a monthly rate of $59.99. I declined again and told her that I was looking for something closer to my original promotional price. She then offered the speed increase and a monthly rate of $49.99. I accepted and she was even able to discount this months bill. I'm not great at negotiating but this was so easy.
