I've owned my house just over two years now, try to do as much maintenance, myself, as possible. Definitely an amateur though.Recently, a root poked itself up through the basement floor, cracking through a central spot and causing some buckling around it. Here's a few pictures. Is there any reason I can't break up the floor around the root, chop out the root (and perhaps try redirecting it downwards), and redo the concrete I've broken up? If so, is there anything I should be doing to prepare the ground to better support the concrete, like some sort of matting or rocks, anything like that? Thanks in advance. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2JKeRLe
