I've been wanting to build a small metal foundry for my weekend projects for quite some time. The ideal design in my mind is an electric foundry as it is safer in terms of flame hazards and fumes. My rough idea is as follows:I'd like to pour some plaster in a large paint container (steel) and put a small flower pot to create a space for crucible and metal.Drill two holes where heating wire (nichrome or kanthal I'm not sure yet) would go in and out.The wire will spiral inside the foundry but my concern here is how to hold the wire in place. I was thinking about maybe nailing but unsure if the plaster can handle it. According to many videos I've watched, masters make grooves on ceramic bricks to keep wires in place but that will not be possible if I'm using plaster obviously.Any advice would be very helpful as I'm still studying and sketching (tho it's pretty damn rough at this point)!
