I will be the first to admit I do spend a good amount of money on makeup. I often break out using cheap makeup so I have a few expensive staples I fit into my budget every year.

However, A couple years ago I switched from bare minerals foundation (think $30 for a tiny jar that I would have to buy seasonly as my skin tone would change through out the year) and started making my own.

I purchased an organic bag of cocoa powder and arrow root (similar to cornstarch in consistency) and mixed them to match my skin tone (use the inside of your wrist as a good gauge). Sometimes I mix in a couple drops of oil, I use argan oil ($7 at trader Joe's which is the greatest skin oil ever for a fraction of the cost) or lavender oil for scent and put everything into my old benefits container.

I haven't bought new foundation in three years!

It looks great, I haven't broken out once, and occasionally I taste like chocolate. Not to mention I know all the ingredients inside of the container so I'm not putting a bunch of crazy chemicals on my face.

I based my recipe off this article: https://www.google.com/amp/s/livesimply.me/2013/06/27/homemade-foundation-powder/amp/

It's not the heaviest coverage in the world but if you're looking for a lightweight foundation at the fraction of the cost, I really recommend it :)
