Refinshed my basement that had drop ceiling and wood paneling. I was on a budget of less than 2k for the whole basement. This ruled out drywalled ceiling (glad it did in the end). The wood paneling was over 3/8 drywall glued and nailed but sturdy thanks to the drywall. Decided to fill gaps with joint compound. Did this multiple times over. 2 week period to encourage shrinking before finishing. Taped and feathered all panel joints. Beaded all corners and finished with knockdown/Spanish lace. There is zero indication there is wood paneling underneath and no cracks after a month now.The ceiling was painted with oil based kills kills then black dryfall with a 300$ sprayer my buddy has.Less than 1600$ spent on materials. Mostly trim and paint. Few mistakes here and there (forgot treated footers, I actually bought them but didn't notice it didn't use them until after the others were screwed into concrete but that was happens lol.List of some tools I used that the basic DIYer might not have.Miter saw Table saw Jigsaw Braid nail gun Framing nail gun Paint sprayer Digital Angle finder Drywall tools Mudd hoper Air compressor 6 weeks time while working full time (est 350hrs) Patience Open minded wife who trusted me lol.Any question feel free to ask.https://ift.tt/2qirKTH via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2GJwPzv
