I'm visiting the US and when I was about to pay with credit card, the small business owner said I could save 3% if I paid in cash. It was a small purchase so it didn't make big difference. But, I was curious if this was a tax or cost they were saving or if it was a credit card transaction fee that I would pay.. since I had not heard of this before. The only thing that I had heard of is businesses that prefer cash transactions so they don't have to declare all sales - thus saving them on the taxes they pay.
