I am 52 years old, divorce and living in outside NYC. I am in deep need of help. I dont know if you guys will respond to me or even read it but i am desperate to get my financial problems in order. My main concern is retirement. unfortunatetly i have neglected to think about that and just few years ago i started to take responsibility in order for me to retire at a reasonable age.
I have open a retirement account last year in August, that is ROTH-IRA. In my ROTH-IRA I have put 6,500 dollars. I feel like it is too late that I open that retirement account but I have no idea what i am doing. I am an immigrant who came here several years ago. About 6 years ago I sold my house on "short sale"which i got 36,000 from that sale. Ever since I had the idea to retire in peru, so i put my money in a bank in peru in 2013. It was in mutual funds but I was not well informed so I couldnt fufill my purpose through mutual funds. That is why I took my money out of that mutual funds and put it in a savings account with no interest so i am not making any money in just pugting it on a savings acount. Also I have 10,000 dollars cash as my emergency hidden. Since i sold my house, I've been renting an apartment and its about 1,500 dollars but recenty I found a roomate who pays 500, so she helps me out a little bit.
I'm by myself finanially and willling to make big decissions to better my future. Please help me, I do not know what I am doing, I know I am starting too late. I am house keeper (self employed) and I earn 650 a week. I do not have any debt, I have good credit (820-730) score.
What i am doing right now to better my future (or at least that is what ;i think is good) I am back in college online. I take one class a semster and I pay 125 each class. My family believe it's not a good idea to go back to college since igoing at a very slow pace and spending my money away. What should I do to better my future? Should I move to a different state? should i start investing in the stock market? please help.
