Our main purpose for the brighter tomorrow map is connection. Connecting people with the resources nearby to meet basic needs and change their situation is one part of it.
My inspiration was also to connect people in need with those living nearby who want to help but don't know what to do, and together to build a list of suggestions for effective things we can offer/do to help. I've setup a sub-reddit to collect the most effective ideas from around the world.
If you know of any free resources nearby please post them onto the map so it can fulfil my dream and begin helping people around the world. thank you.

Donating to homelessness charities is great, but we've been doing that for decades and there is no sign that we're anywhere near solving it globally. It feels like putting out fires rather than stopping them in the 1st place. My/our hope is that the map will give people the ability to just do it ourselves. Like a small village would come together to help one of their own in need.
The site is far from polished, and feedback is welcome. It should be usable at its current state. Anyone who wants to join the team is also welcome! (especially Meteor/Javascript developers)
