This applies to ebay and outlet stores especially. KNOW YOUR SIZE. Many people don't, and it costs them money. If you ask 100 medium-sized Americans what size suit jacket they wear, almost all will give answers of 40, 42, and 44. You will get very few answers of 41 and 43, yet the higher quality makers manufacture in these sizes, as well as 39 and 45. The simple fact is that many men who wear size 42 would get a better fit from a 42 or a 43, but they don't know that, or they don't know that the size exists.
How can this knowledge help you save money? An ebay seller will usually be more flexible on pricing with an odd number sized jacket, simply because there is less demand for it. Many more people are searching "Brooks Brothers 42R Suit" than are searching "Brooks Brothers 41R Suit".
Supply and demand. Knowledge is power. I make my living selling clothing on ebay. That's how I know this.
