Current situation:

college junior doing horribly as an environmental econ major, initially went into this field because I wanted to work something other than an office job, something that got me outside and away from a super structured 9-5 suburban lifestyle. I'm 21 and due to the lifestyle I lived growing up I've never had a job. I've lost all motivation to do well in school and I'm thinking it may be a good idea to take a year or two off to stablize myself and get myself back on track mentally. I love to work hard but keeping myself mentally happy/stable makes this hard sometimes which is why I am so drawn to working non traditional jobs, preferably out in nature.

The issue I've run into is I'm not sure where to begin looking for work or even what's available to me. I've spent my whole life moving around constantly and a lot of peers and advisors keep telling me to "explore" the world and go work jobs in exciting foregn places. I've had enough of that and honestly I just want to stay in one place and maintain one set of friends for once in my godamn life. I'd love to be doing trail maintenance in Colorado for work but alas I'm in urban new England and I can't bring myself to leave another support group of friends that I've worked so hard to find.

I'm looking for either advice or self help resources to get me on a path where I can afford my own place & possessions (housing here is really expensive and there's not enough rural or open land to look into alternative housing like a tiny house, although I would like to do that 2-3 years down the road once I've left this place) without working an overly stressful job everyday. Id like to know where I can look for work that isn't corporate 9-5 type stuff that I can get into without completely leaving school.

Am I being unrealistic? Idk put me in my place if I am. Any help is appreciated
