So this is my issue. My grandmother died in 2015 in a house fire. She left me 17,000 dollars. My grandmother wanted my aunt to be in charge of my money. But in the state of Colorado my mother was the one in charge of it all. It was all in an account with a company named Morgan Stanley. I just turned 18 this most recent November. I found out she pulled 9,000 dollars 2016 and the rest in 2017 which was like 8,300 dollars. There was 4 pulls in the span of 5 months which concluded my account. I wasn't able to receive this money til I was 21 or my mother signed off on it. I had no knowledge what so ever. I truly don't know If she even did my taxes for it for the year of 2016. I also found out that she didn't pull taxes out when she originally pulled the money out. I'm honestly thinking about suing my mother. I need some major help with all of this. How do I receive my 17,000 dollars and not have to be the one to pay the taxes for this year. Knowing my mother she will never pay that money back unless I sue. So I need everyone's help. What do I do? I know nothing about this stuff and need major help. I'm 18 living in Colorado. Please help. (I bowl tonight on a league so if I don't reply to all of you right away that is why. I'll reply as soon as I can.)
