Just over a year ago, my girlfriend lent her mum £1000 as she was struggling with money for rent, food etc. She told my girlfriend she’d pay her back as soon as she got the money. Fast forward a year, her mum has her disability benefit cut and loses her car. My partner has a new car on finance which she lent to her mum as she was told her mum would pay the finance and insurance which is around £200 a month. My girlfriend is now in a situation where she’s owed over £2000 for the finance, insurance and the original £1000 loan. Every time she asks for the money back it ends in an argument and therefore, nothing gets resolved. Is there anything my partner can do in order to get her money back as nothing seems to be working?
