Hello everybody! Im a long time lurker and this is my first post so hope im doing this right and this is in the right place! Im just looking for advice/help on what to do next.
Yesterday I was given instant redundancy from my job after being told on Monday the company is in a very bad financial state so there would be redundancies - and i was one of the unlucky ones! My contract was under 2 years (1 year 11 months and 2 weeks annoyingly!) so I believe they were within their rights to get rid of me. I have been at the company for almost 10 years though on and off with other jobs in between and im still in utter shock and gutted about it all and I have no clue what to do next!
Im also worried that my age (Im 32!) and my lack of qualifications is going to hinder my search for a new job. Im not too fussed about starting again or starting a new carrer from scratch but it would have to be for the right price so I can still support my life (bills, rent etc.)
My experience is mainly in event management, but ideally im looking to move away from that having done it for so many years, but again wouldnt rule it out. I have worked in offices before also, and while I am quite tech savvy and would enjoy an IT or engineering type role, I always found myself fustrated sat behind a desk all day, so need at least some kind of active part.
If there is anyone out there in the wonderful world or reddit that could help me out, give me advice or even point me in the direction of someone who is hiring even, then I would be so grateful.
